It explored the biblical and theological foundation for inter-generational ministry, and reflected upon current literature. The rationale was shared with the elders and the congregation, and they engaged in several events planned to include multiple-age groups. Their responses to these events and attitudes toward inter-generational ministry were collected through a congregational survey and from feedback from the leaders. The church has chosen to define the vocational call more in terms of function rather than its nature. Ministry that does not include a preaching element fits into the accepted categories of service in the church. However, this functional position undercuts the power of God's call to all and elevates clergy-related leadership as the more desired calling. Hence there is a need to ably and holistically evaluate the nature and not merely the function of the call. The focus of this project was to design a framework of Scripture, reason, experience, and tradition to clarify this process better assist those working through their sense of calling. It is hoped that under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, they will apply and exercise their calling to some aspect of full-time clergy or called laity ministry. The field work research methodologies included e-mail questionnaires, writing of seminar teacher and student manuals, receiving peer evaluation of curriculum, and recruiting, teaching, deploying, and evaluating volunteers through a mentoring process. The seminar taught foundations for spiritual care, understanding older adults, basic guidelines for visitation, and the skills of listening spiritual assessment, prayer, and the use of scriptures. The project succeeded in training 38 individuals and deploying nine volunteers who provided 315 visits to residents. Seven new leaders and apprentices along with a host family carried the load of creating our desired result of connecting our church membership into small groups. Despite remarkable numerical growth of the Brazillian evangelical church over the past twenty years, it continues to weather a sever integrity crisis. Directive Mentoring fuses the relational strength of mentoring with the learning strength of discipleship to form Christian character through encouragement, accountability and biblical praxis. Six strategic lay-leaders participated in the documented, three month pilot project. The project used case studies to plan CareFest, and surveys and interviews to measure congregants' community service involvement and the perceived impact of such ministry on the church and community; event recipients were also interviewed. Post-event data supports that CareFest achieved its aims. If you are a youth pastor, this equipping certainly involves recruiting volunteer leaders.  The goal of this project was to train three youth pastors in recruiting volunteer youth leaders using a four-phase strategy involving prayer, effective leadership team, worship service vision casting, and personal contacting.
