This Doctor of Ministry project is entitled 'The design and implementation of a volunteer development course for Broadway Church,' and details the design, presentation and follow-up strategy for its use in a local church. The project examines the history of the church, its current needs for volunteer leadership development, and provides a biblical and historical understanding the 'priesthood of all believers'. As well, it examines some general trends in volunteerism. The development of the lesson material, the teaching of the course to students, and the presentation of the strategic plan to church leadership are the key components to the project. If you are a youth pastor, this equipping certainly involves recruiting volunteer leaders.  The goal of this project was to train three youth pastors in recruiting volunteer youth leaders using a four-phase strategy involving prayer, effective leadership team, worship service vision casting, and personal contacting. On the basis of scripture, it is demonstrated that God has both created people for ministry as well as shapes them through spiritual gifts, heart burdens, abilities, personality, and experiences. A seminar is outlined which helps Christians identify their God-given design.
