Yet many of these church members were well educated and some of these lay-leaders could be trained as lay-preachers. The objective of this project is to train and empower a group of lay-leaders to preach in the first generation Chinese immigrant churches. The project will conduct 16-20 sessions of training, some practical preaching opportunities, and the evaluations. To test this idea of community, we conducted leadership training to handle every member should they decide to join one. Seven new leaders and apprentices along with a host family carried the load of creating our desired result of connecting our church membership into small groups. A Biblical and sociological foundation for planting churches was established, followed by an examination of supportive existing literature. Recent demographics, supplemented with interviews of ministry and civic leaders, provided sociological support. The resulting strategy for planting churches in Wyoming included methods to provide spiritual empowerment, community evaluation, leader evaluation, leader equipping, leader empowerment, and parent partnerships. Biblical forms of prayers are useful for praying with persons 'in Christ' and persons 'outside of Christ' when they are in physical decline and dying. The research methodology included interviews, observation, and participation. Thirty-nine residents living in Covenant Village of Northbrook, a Christian continuous care not-for-profit retirement community, were interviewed. Residents reveal strong desire to be praying and receiving Christian prayer in physical decline and death. This project considers the indebtedness of Pentecostals to sacramentalists and Evangelicals who contributed to the doctrine of a Spirit baptism subsequent to regeneration. The scriptures which relate speaking in tongues are discussed from a Pentecostal perspective, although alternative interpretations are explored. In his book Good to Great, Jim Collins observes how effective leaders demonstrate a paradoxical blend of professional will and personal humility. This same paradox is reflected in Jesus' grace-giving, truth-telling leadership. He perfectly modeled how to relate to people redemptively while not compromising in matters of truth and righteousness. This project details a process for enhancing leadership effectiveness by cultivating self-awareness among church leaders in regard to professional will and personal humility. This project consisted of a major survey of 3044 evangelical believers regarding their background and conversion, and forty-seven in-depth interviews with evangelical believers who were raised exclusively in un-churched homes. The observers rated their pastors fairly highly, except for a significantly lower rating on their 'challenging the process.' These congregations were forty percent smaller that the average congregation in the United States.
