A pastor needs more than a 'day off,' he needs a 'Sabbath rest.'  The goal of this project is to help ministers establish a practice of Sabbath rest which will enable them to thrive in ministry. The project surveys literature reviewing issues facing pastors. The author surveyed 900 churches in five evangelical Canadian congregational-based denominations, covering denominational leaders, the senior pastor, and a key lay leader from each church. Pastor Care proposes that with denominational leaders acting as a catalyst, lay leaders can create a culture of care among local church leaders and assist pastors to find a mentor.
