The goal is not to isolate the therapeutic benefits of the spiritual disciplines, but to grow in godliness.  Doctoral classes and library research were combined to create an eight-session class which focused first on intimacy and spiritual intimacy.  The remaining six sessions dealt with the spiritual disciplines of the Word, meditative prayer, simplicity, forgiveness, service and worship.
