This project builds on the work of John Piper, which connects preaching to worship, understanding preaching as 'expository exultation.'  The project provides a biblical justification for this connection, establishes a set of hermeneutical values for building God-centered sermons, and describes a model for producing messages based on those values.  The project includes a summary of two surveys of preachers, and the author's interview with Piper. The project addressed the need that many if not most churches in sending countries and those in mission fields call for true spiritual, holistic and contextualized worship to facilitate missions.  Further, contemporary worship and praise movements pose a challenge in the examination of relevance for missions.  The author represented the results in a workbook, which was evaluated by twelve missionaries. This project sought to find those motivational means and methods whereby the church would be moved to the acceptable worship of God.  These motivations were discovered through an in-depth study of God's revelation in his general revelation in Creation, his special revelation in his Word, and his redemptive revelation in Christ.  They were then incorporated into the practical worship of a New England church. This is accomplished through a series of surveys that look at spiritual needs, feelings about worship, and suggestions from pastors.  An examination of the historical, sociological, and theological perspectives show that ours is an aging society and there are few resources and aids to meet the seniors' spiritual needs. The main proposition is that, because the key element in worship is response to God, and his revelation, and because preaching seeks to expound God's revelation for his people, the natural order is for preaching to come early in a worship service, to be followed by significant worship response time.  Evaluation was made of the current practice of preaching in worship in the congregation served by the project writer, and, by use of a survey in other churches in Canada. Principles were developed for integrating preaching and worship more effectively. Six themes were chosen: remembrance, proclamation, fellowship, self-examination, expectation, and thanksgiving. The celebration of these themes in worship was intended to be for the edification and inspiration of the worshipper. An evaluation form was used to determine (on a scale of 1-10) the result of the worship service to an individual's life. The paper describes the inductive Bible study process that was used to develop the basis for the manual.  The central thesis is that true worship is predicated on realizing something of the greatness of the Lord.  The project delineates the basic elements and attitudes about worship.  It explains the desired goal and purpose of each chapter in the manual.
