Five independent Christian churches were selected.  Ten-year histories revealed giving patterns.  Congregational questionnaires measured initial theological understanding. Lion's Share was prayerfully implemented.  Giving was measured one year.  Re-taking of questionnaires indicated significant theological growth, including a seveteen percent average increase in giving. The first part is historical and critical, explaining the views of recent authors who have opposed all church debt and offering a biblical and practical critique of those views.  Then all the biblical passages relevant to indebtedness are exegeted and interpreted.  The conclusions presented are that the Scriptures do not forbid borrowing for individuals and it is inconsistent to allow borrowing for individuals but not for churches. Used also were interviews, missiological writings, biblical research, and the writer's missionary experience.  The result was a program of teaching biblical stewardship in the context of Zairian culture and AIMM partnering with CMZ to phase out financial subsidy, to encourage biblical giving, economic development and indigeneity of its
