Three methods are used to discover the pastoral care issues: 1. a start-up instrument from the American Lutheran Church; 2. an emotional response record; and 3. a case study.  The project results in the development of a revised call process. Six CPE students were attached to appropriate amplifiers and a personal computer both administered the statements of the profile and recorded the physiological responses.  As hypothesized, students created increased physiological responses to particular profile statements which were stressful to them.
