After four child-friendly worship services, qualitative research using phenomenological interviewing of ten children and ten adults helped assess not only remembered worship but what worship meant. Foundational research supported the importance of using blessing-based spiritual nurture with children in preparation for worship and during worship if they are to value it for themselves. The goal was to improve the quality of 'spiritual' life of the participants through a primary focus of 'spiritual painting' accompanied by prayer, meditation, and Bible story reading. Most of the participants suffered from either or both mental and physical disability. Even though normal communication and activity participation was somewhat limited, meaningful qualitative and quantitative assessments were obtained. The research methods utilized were surveys and interviews of students, faculty and judicatory partners as well as the researcher's observations of other related interactions. The project identified the strengths and weaknesses of the program throughout its ten-year history and was successful in gathering data which will be beneficial to the future of the program. Spirituality was defined as relational consciousness encompassing four categories: child/self, child/people, child/world and child/God. Five videotaped sessions documented evidence of the categories of relational consciousness. The evidence of increased spirituality was triangulated with pre/post parent input, researcher observations, and previous research. The hypothesis was that associate ministers lacked mentoring and training in the area of ministry. To accomplish this goal, five instructional classes were taught on mentoring and training for associate ministers. Pre- and post-test results of the instructional classes showed that the associate ministers were untrained and improperly mentored. Most respondents want the gospel told at least once a month; many say it makes their worship experience deeper and presents an opportunity for evangelism. The context for this project was at Martin Luther King Junior Senior High School, Detroit, Michigan. The focus was on grade point averages, scholastics, attendance, conduct, and faith enrichment. The results indicated a decline in the male students GPA, while scholastics, attendance, conduct, and faith enrichment made a slight increase. The hypothesis was that through the Sunday school program, families could be better equipped to do faith development in the home. New curriculum choices, teacher training and parent resources were introduced to accomplish this goal. Pre- and post-testing of the parents in the church showed that the research project did provide the parents the resources needed to continue the Sunday school lessons at home. A case study was implemented to evaluate the experiences of those that participated in a well-planned series of consciousness-raising transforming seminars.
