The methodology used to achieve this was a pretest survey, a four-sermon series, and a post test survey.  The findings of this project confirmed that there is a definite relationship between expository preaching and spiritual growth. A survey was devised whereby information was gathered from the parish concerning what strengthens or weakens faith.  The survey responses were analyzed and collated.  Significant areas were identified and a ten-week project was devised around the most pertinent aspects of faith building.  The project was named 'Soaring To New Heights.' Foundational to the project was a theory base and paradigm produced by the author outlining and defining morally/spiritually rooted cultures.  Robert Kegan and James Fowler influenced this material.  Research included the field test and the development of a Moral/Spiritual Awareness Inventory which was also used in a limited external sample.  The inventory does seem to measure moral/spiritual development.
