It was found that 86 percent of the respondents engaged in formal pastoral counseling; they engaged in counseling an average of 10 hours per month, and they encountered a limited variety of counseling problems. Congregational and community context and job-related institutional characteristics accounted for differences in both the amount and variety of counseling more than did clergy's personal characteristics. A booklet of children's sermon experiences for Lent following year B of the New Common Lectionary was developed and distributed to clergy and lay worship leaders.  These children's sermons were then shared with congregations and critiqued by both lay and clergy worship leaders who completed pre-implementation and post-implementation questionnaires to describe the worship settings and to evaluate the children's sermons.
