Lay visitors were recruited and engaged in ten training and supervisory sessions.  During three months they visited active and inactive church members.  Parables of Jesus provided a framework for understanding the visitations.  Listening, caring, motivation and other pastoral skills were demonstrated, practiced and applied.  Various problems and opportunities were encountered and dealt with in recruiting, motivating, and training visitors. The project did so through the high school's active support of parish youth retreats, through encouragement of student involvement in the ministries of the parish and through providing school time and space for interaction of the parish staffs and their youth on a quarterly basis.  A pre- and post-project self-report questionnaire was administered to the student participants as a means of determining the success of the project.
