To prepare for the seminar the author developed a Christian anthropology, researched the subject of stress and prepared seminar materials. After conducting it, he reviewed his findings with professionals from various disciplines and refined the process in further offerings.  Although the evaluations were not scientifically conclusive, participants in the seminars were very appreciative. This project sought to assist such growth through developing personal learning plans based on ministry needs in a supportive group context.  Ten Fort Wayne Lutheran pastors met monthly for eight months. Beginning with lay and self-evaluation of pastoral functions, each pastor developed a learning plan complete with goals, resources, time table and accountability structure. The research question was, 'how will a leadership development program affect the Council on Ministries?' three major events were implemented.  Two preparatory sessions involved present members of the COM. The concluding workshop was an orientation for newly elected members of the Council.  The conclusion is that the development of leaders is accomplished through teaching skills, sharing information , and a process of spiritual growth. This system included a parish vision and mission statement, a nine step planning guide for program groups and a method for program evaluation. Thirteen parents (eleven women and two men) considered developmental and child-rearing models, researched their findings and reflected personal experience within a supportive atmosphere.  The result of their interaction was a cyclical, sensitizing process which could have transferable applications within other contexts. The context for this effort was Mount Vernon Nazarene College, Mount Vernon, Ohio.  The program focused on the use of student singing groups to make the contact for the college with the churches. A small group of members were taught models of conflict resolution and became the demonstration setting for practicing creative conflict resolution.  Pre- and post-testing demonstrated growth and positive change in each participant.  The congregation changed from self-defeating patterns in conflict, such as avoidance, to ones which accept diversity and value in appropriate conflict resolution.
