It explores use of narrative theory as a pedagogical approach, a model for theological reflection, and a method for facilitation of group process.  It explores how the framework of narrative and social construction enhances interest generated learning that is technical, practical, and emancipatory (Mezirow's Transformational Learning Theory); learning in relation to thinking, feeling, and behaving (Corey's Group Process Theory); and theological reflection (Tillich and Liberation theorists). Based on oral interviews and written questionnaires, the research compares the spiritual experiences and perceptions of volunteers who have and have not participated in faith reflection.
