Smithfield Baptist Church located in Gloucester, Virginia served as the context for this project. The researcher hypothesized that the freedom of worship and the availability of relevant ministry opportunities would provoke an attitudinal change in the current parishioner, as well as increase church participation and growth. A mixed methodological approach was used to measure the project's effectiveness including focus groups, pre and post survey questionnaires, workshop questionnaires, and workshop evaluations. This project demonstrated practices that churches in similar environments could employ to ensure future viability."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["United Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["f0f9c284-37b6-440c-96ab-39e6509e82ee"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129005000228864,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:08:49.439Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:15:45Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:56:35Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"5067a07e-b664-406e-b478-d9cd66ceb9c7","accessControl_ssim":["315682c6-18cd-416a-97de-50751cebb8b8"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Enhancing comfort care for individual hospice patients by teasing out meaning from their dreams, comments and behaviors"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:15:44Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:29:28Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["45b11f40-cce4-4ea8-94e3-3bfa0f9528a3"],"hasLease_ssim":["35a8f83d-6272-42bf-b853-33db03dc32f7"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities"],"advisor_tesim":["Clyde J Steckel"],"year_tesim":["2012"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["William Paul Steinke"],"publisher_tesim":["United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities"],"subject_tesim":["Psychology, Religious","Caregivers","Hospices (Terminal care)","Terminal care","Jung, C. The workshops are designed to inform and develop skills interpreting symbols to enhanced palliative care. Through the use of two case studies, one medical and one biblical, this thesis explores new ways of thinking through ethical challenges at the bedside. Drawing primarily on H. Richard Niebuhr's theological ethics, virtue ethics, and postmodern analysis, this thesis constructs a contextual, postmodern practical theology of bioethics. It proposes new ministry practices in bioethics. It calls for collaboration among bioethical methods to create a fitting response to challenging situations. It concludes with proposed trajectories for the ongoing work of responsible and responsive bioethics."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126653929259008,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:31:27.283Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":4,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Elizabeth Marie Mahan","hits":1,"label":"Elizabeth Marie Mahan"},{"value":"Karen Zutz Rendall","hits":1,"label":"Karen Zutz Rendall"},{"value":"Steven J Daniels","hits":1,"label":"Steven J Daniels"},{"value":"William Paul Steinke","hits":1,"label":"William Paul Steinke"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"African American Baptists","hits":1,"label":"African American Baptists"},{"value":"Bioethics","hits":1,"label":"Bioethics"},{"value":"Caregivers","hits":1,"label":"Caregivers"},{"value":"Church growth","hits":1,"label":"Church growth"},{"value":"Church membership","hits":1,"label":"Church membership"},{"value":"Church work","hits":1,"label":"Church work"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":4,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities","hits":4,"label":"United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities"}],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":4,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"2012","hits":4,"label":"2012"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"Miscellaneous","hits":3,"label":"Miscellaneous"},{"value":"United Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"United Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":4,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities","hits":3,"label":"United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities"},{"value":"United Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"United Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Atla RIM","hits":4,"label":"Atla RIM"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":4,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
