Is it possible to serve both when the chaplain believes these entities' values are in conflict? This project was about the God-Country Paradox, the apparent self-contradictory concept of serving God and country as a Christian Army Chaplain. The author conducted a biblical case study of Daniel 1-6, and a phenomenological questionnaire of conservative Christian chaplains to learn about this challenge and to contribute to addressing it. The author then used that knowledge to craft the God-Country Paradox workshop, which he presented to active duty battalion chaplains as a mentoring session. The author determined that identity is a critical factor in serving God and country and that Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah are excellent biblical archetypes of how to serve God and country loyally.' -- Leaf [2]."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717303087005696,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:16:08.746Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:21:55Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:32:50Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1d14f27d-bddf-4016-98bb-851a82c14faa","accessControl_ssim":["cca0dea7-59b4-4f6e-90d1-e1201de8e7d1"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Seek peace and pursue it : the church as a messenger in the public square : building interfaith bridges of peace and reconciliation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:21:54Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:59:22Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["1d586d3c-8909-4857-8624-018c7ce9dbe5"],"hasLease_ssim":["3f83d67c-8a91-4741-acd0-4364919a221d"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Lorena Parrish"],"year_tesim":["2020"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The study was conducted among the Maasai community of Kenya and Tanzania. The problem for the study concerned the fact that many Maasai's did not abandon some retrogressive elements of their culture that were in conflict with the Christian faith, even after embracing Christianity. The study employed Paul's framework in his letter to the Galatians where it is shown that Paul was not content to make converts but to transform Christians to be witnesses. The objective for this study was to use cultural structures of church leadership in order to mediate the Christian faith through the leaders. Ultimately, this study was aimed at showing how members can be transformed into witnesses through leadership. Qualitative data for this study was gathered from interviews through nonprobability sampling from the Maasai Methodist mission fields in Longido Tanzania. Data was analyzed through philosophical analysis and conclusions were drawn from the given samples. The findings and conclusions of this study point to the fact that converts to Christianity should become witnesses in their communities. It is hoped that the recommendations that have been brought out in this study will be of utmost importance to future missionaries in Africa."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715915565105152,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:54:05.502Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T17:48:35Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:07:08Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"df3c3120-a45e-45d1-a584-7511ea7e1b3d","accessControl_ssim":["daec173d-e525-4d64-b1d8-f9c6d0425bf9"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A hope for the gospel furthering the vision of the multi-ethnic church despite the brokenness of the United Methodist connectional system"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T17:48:33Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:31:25Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2ec10dc9-1771-42e0-9bf3-e2463596f2c1"],"hasLease_ssim":["98e868f1-a53f-4342-909c-7010f5cd6b1a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Lewis Parks"],"year_tesim":["2017"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. However, the pastor and his supervisors found a way to continue to further the vision of a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural church utilizing some principles from the church in Antioch despite the brokenness of the United Methodist connectional system."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720513107394560,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:07:10.060Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:35:51Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:45:38Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"6cd1943b-e0f7-4f58-82ab-dd37d1d194d3","accessControl_ssim":["569b91ff-4318-426f-85c8-67a149b84dc0"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["God's initiates: an African contextual theology"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:35:49Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:19:09Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["fb41bf00-ab99-49b5-b776-3cb874fd48d9"],"hasLease_ssim":["b530ea3b-2545-469d-a261-ad3c0551acd2"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Josiah U Young"],"year_tesim":["2014"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min.
