It is this author's conviction that it is time for the church to claim the theological premise that crafting eucharistic practices of friendship across cultures provides a vision of faith that will address racial divisiveness and build bridges of reconcilitation in society. The author wrote a workbook that served as an instrument to facilitate daily reflection upon ways the Eucharist inspires practices of friendship across ethnicity and social class. The author conducted an eight-week project which included multi-cultural worship, sharing of stories in small groups, and participation in Eucharist. Evaluation of the project included the use of surveys and interviews. The author concludes that this approach to multi-cultural ministry facilitated reflection upon Eucharist and helped participants learn more about the importance of forming friendships with Christians of diverse ethnicity and economic class based upon practices of holy communion that shape the formation of Christ-like friendships."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799718444648628224,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:34:17.424Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:17:56Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:37:41Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"f7768a42-a349-41c2-bd2b-f76c719d6a86","accessControl_ssim":["5e67c933-fe09-483e-b2b2-c6b97070094d"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Sanctification and leadership: a Wesleyan model of forming lay pastoral leadership"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:17:55Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:12:20Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["85cb9824-e182-4a52-86be-4d35d90763c5"],"hasLease_ssim":["c0d408f9-3995-498f-aeea-202f003b46b2"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Douglas M Strong"],"year_tesim":["2002"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The issue of spousal abuse has combined with theological, biblical and socio-cultural misunderstandings. Misquoted Bible verses, exaggerated theological doctrines, and teachings in the church have added more guilt and self-denouncement to the suffering for victims of spousal abuse. This, in turn, provided the abusers with an excuse, a rationalization, and a justification for the abuse. It is time to clarify the wrongful misunderstandings and prejudices in the new millennium. We should open a new era of the church in Christ, as a model for God's reign, void of discrimination among Jews, Greeks, women, men, both slaves and free. At the same time, in Korean culture and surroundings, unless we change the dominant subordinating social structure that is patriarchal and gender exclusive, and shatter the systematic cultural structure, it is impossible to get rid of the roots of abuse which are deeply embedded in the cultures and lives of Koreans. This study attempts to clarify the realities of domestic violence, research the ways to help the abusers and the victims of spousal abuse, and establish such guidelines."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791125653706244096,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:15:33.396Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:14:30Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:21:13Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a82a611d-6890-4748-80a4-14e0a2a2e7ff","accessControl_ssim":["71b431ad-bebe-4af8-b737-4cbfed575df7"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["True to the core: the development and implementation of a spiritual growth program for a Wesleyan-Holiness parish"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:14:29Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:00:21Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["8c46c4e1-b216-4a67-8969-55235f9333ab"],"hasLease_ssim":["841ca2c2-4a96-4b84-a537-79f388902b03"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["James C Logan"],"year_tesim":["2002"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The ministry of hospitality had six major components: (1) designated guides for visitors, (2) four weeks of membership classes, (3) calls and visits, (4) round table fellowship after worship, (5) the use of questionnaires (family information, small group preferences, temperament, passion for ministry), and (6) encouragement to serve."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799716530518228992,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:03:51.967Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:13:33Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:31:06Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"dfd7c021-16d6-4801-b8af-c3eaad177d73","accessControl_ssim":["a588b169-52da-4ea1-9129-3e6683344e07"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Ordination of women in the Northern Virginia Baptist Association: the difference four years makes [sic]"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:13:32Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:32:34Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["926c3996-27dc-4fd2-9f84-2055dda06c13"],"hasLease_ssim":["401d42af-404e-4857-a3d3-1ce953bdf78b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Susan Willhauck"],"year_tesim":["2002"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. It is not a new question, nor does there appear to be a clear, united resolution. In some discussions, there has been more heat than light. The Baptist churches are in a state of transition. However, in the meantime, how does a woman who claims the doctrine of Baptists as her own respond authentically to her faith when the institutions of that faith erect barriers to her? How does she personally interpret her faith in a meaningful way? What avenues of ministry are open to her? What impact does her ministry have on the work and theology of her denomination? What is the experience of a Baptist woman who is called to minister professionally? What has been the response of Baptists to her ministry? This project evaluates the steps and role a Baptist pastor and moderator of the Northern Virginia (NOVA) Baptist Association, namely Rev. Dr. Kenny Smith, performed during his four-year tenure that led to women pastors and ministers to have full participation, including ordination, in the Association."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126638200619008,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:31:12.283Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:13:03Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:31:47Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"e1e226d2-44c7-4262-b0d3-a926890872ce","accessControl_ssim":["a8572a4c-d686-4a45-b919-c07fcedc8d72"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Seeking a corner of light: rabbinic exercises of spiritual formation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:13:02Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:35:57Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["6b0e0945-db17-4d77-924e-a7b7dee557e5"],"hasLease_ssim":["f91ea69a-ce06-47f2-9b01-eb9deaab7062"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["John W Crossin"],"year_tesim":["2002"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min.
