Highlighted is the urgency of why intervention is necessary through the utilization of case studies. Throughout the project, field notes were collected.  At the conclusion of camp, follow-up interviews were held re-addressing the pre-camp interviews to quantify strengths and weaknesses for the campers, custodial parents and volunteers. In order for preaching to be profoundly transformational in the shaping of a faith community's identity, the prophetic preacher must recover an eschatological awareness and urgency. The author explored the background of the sweeping changes that the Church faces in the twenty-first century, visited congregations of various sizes and locations to investigate how the average parishioner understands discipleship, and undertook the work of developing a parish covenant as a way of strengthening community and forming disciples for the work of mission. Parish surveys, semi-structured interviews and statistical analysis were employed. This is a comprehensive approach to reducing and eliminating obesity and food diseases in Christians through fasting, eating well, and exercise. The research method utilized for this project was a 31 day program that increased the spiritual growth of the thirty-six people in the areas of intellectual capacity about food, convictions, and conduct in a verifiable manner that is statistically significant.
