Some churches today are experiencing decline which can be partly ascribed to the unresolved conflicts within the church. When conflict does occur, lay and clergy leaders do not have the training to deal with conflict and therefore react quickly and ineffectively. The project presents a case study in which one church in conflict participated in the study and educational events which taught some basic components of conflict management: conflict occurs in God's family; conflict can be a positive influence and opportunity for renewal; and, conflict signals a brokenness in relationship which needs to be reconciled just as Christ reconciled the world to himself. The conclusion drawn from this project is that with training and education, people's ideas about anger and conflict can change, thereby facilitating a constructive conflict management process."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717413209505792,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:17:53.767Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:43:42Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:30:27Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"0fb6e141-9ef5-4c01-be43-e6269fddef9b","accessControl_ssim":["a5671b69-166e-4dec-9da5-22273a53cb27"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The gifts of prayer: our spiritual legacy"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:43:42Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:34:15Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ba637ae5-dbaa-468c-b693-cfd790c5b616"],"hasLease_ssim":["486b14e7-4be4-41dc-9dbd-d4074ea07723"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Mark S Burrows"],"year_tesim":["1993"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Three devotional guides were written for Gloria Dei! Lutheran Church to use from Advent through Easter. Thirty-five people were interviewed before and after the devotional books were used. The result was the discovery that the discipline of prayer creates a deeper hunger for God and awakens a call to be with God. The church would do well in perpetuating our spiritual legacy, the gift of prayer."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799718205194764288,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:30:29.063Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:43:41Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:13:55Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"7f5fc588-541d-46bb-9ef4-8a902be4945e","accessControl_ssim":["79cf5b6d-153c-40a0-870e-7f34558bf232"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Cooperative parish ministry"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:43:38Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:53:19Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["4f22fa4a-ee42-4fb3-a60c-6e23b4a30551"],"hasLease_ssim":["d0bc1a6a-0b3a-4374-9a96-b06774894ab0"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Ellis L Larsen"],"year_tesim":["1993"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. To test the thesis three methods of research are utilized: investigating literature on the subject of liberation theology and pastoral advocacy; analyzing three case studies; and a group discussion with seven chaplains to evaluate the data. The chaplains concur that the project/thesis is a viable model to implement as one mode of pastoral counseling in the military chaplaincy.
