This was continued through two additional programs funded for 4th grade students and physically and mentally challenged adults. This ministry has grown to encompass ecological and economic resource projects that take place at the Agricultural Experimental Station, University of the District of Columbia, Muirkirk Research Farm, Beltsville, Md. The 2007 project had two components: (1) A study of the Amaranth plant (Pigweed) for a possible 'niche' market; and (2) The study and removal of invasive species with the protection and restoration of native species. The research question is 'how can a congregation improve its ability to reach into the margins of the community?' The case study method was used to apply specific Wesleyan principles to a local congregation and evaluate their effectiveness for a congregation to minister in a community that is radically diverse. There are three issues to be explored in this study. First is to examine a congregation's process of reaching into a very diverse community. Second is to identify new methods and processes of reaching into a community that is rich in diversity. And third is to explore the applicability of historic Wesleyan practices, in ministering to those in the margins, to foster diversity in today's church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799721359271526400,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:20:37.024Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:58:10Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:54:18Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9da1b484-b0e5-4ba6-94bb-45476c9c464d","accessControl_ssim":["5bb3c5d3-6555-47b8-805f-d2f80354b3af"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Fire shut up in my bones: reclaiming the prophetic voice in African American preaching"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:58:09Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:44:46Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3c91df95-97c7-41bb-8de2-c3ef9d09d475"],"hasLease_ssim":["29fd7b37-9765-4b48-83de-46d4463357de"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["William B McClain"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The project shows how congregations discern God's lead in decision making through their daily life situation, social contexts, and various other circumstances. The central task of this project is to trace the path of the planning process that KUMCGW pursued to discern God's plan and analyze the various factors that worked together to attain it. With biblical, theological, and historical research, the varied ways of discernment are summed up in two categories: the realistic/rationalistic way and the pietistic/mystical way of discernment. The author believes that the process of discernment for their long range planning involves working in the cultural context with 'cool heads and listening hearts.'"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799719810999779328,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:56:00.478Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:57:10Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:05:24Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"89fe40a7-42cf-4a86-abcd-4021d89df8b4","accessControl_ssim":["475e1527-3f01-4688-8349-95595e302589"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["An integrative elderly ministry: centered around the senior school at the Dae Won church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:57:09Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:11:09Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["eb463cfd-d33e-42eb-9e86-b36fc67d135b"],"hasLease_ssim":["33a4356e-7d17-4021-99ca-59eb4662991d"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["James M Shopshire"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"location_tesim":["Korea"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min.
