The project outlined the result of a biblical and historical literature review and the development of a methodology used to examine local churches in Tucson, Arizona. The study tested the proposition: there is a positive correlation between preaching and church growth. The hypothesis of this combined descriptive and quasi-experimental research was: if this proposition is correct then tangible evidence exists that the emphasis of preaching will positively impact growth. The first objective stated that an examination of the Bible would support the proposition. A biblical search revealed that there existed a positive correlation between preaching and biblical church growth, both qualitatively and quantitatively. The author found substantial evidence linking the rise and wane of church growth with the emphasis and decline of preaching. The third objective stated that an examination of contemporary churches would support the proposition. The author concludes there exists a correlation between preaching and church growth."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Western Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["910240dd-6bfb-49cb-ab06-1b8de036aac8"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131797845704704,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:53:12.904Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T03:56:37Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:59:11Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"67a5759f-512e-4cea-b29f-a2012092b76b","accessControl_ssim":["d09d33d5-9d9f-4668-9dc7-6321319d7e5a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Power theology methods and church growth"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T03:56:36Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:09:45Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e8ea5906-fc1a-4ac9-ab85-035f2305f02d"],"hasLease_ssim":["1adfb120-788c-4d6d-8d1b-094ece107f58"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Western Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Gerry Breshears"],"year_tesim":["1994"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Brian L Lee"],"publisher_tesim":["Western Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Power (Theology)","Church growth"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This paper develops the thesis that power theology methods produce the fastest church growth in today's world. He integrated the developmental stages of Erik Erikson, James Fowler and the classical order of salvation and developed a grid that can be used descriptively and prescriptively in charting the life development of a congregation. The author has formally and informally used the grid both as a pastor and as a consultant. This specific study shows the use of this grid in a large suburban church that had lost much of its vitality and charts its development from 1977 to 1986."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Western Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["910240dd-6bfb-49cb-ab06-1b8de036aac8"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132880072605696,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:10:24.996Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:49:37Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:04:18Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"97770149-8cf4-4edc-a8dc-882aed82765f","accessControl_ssim":["3b4e6375-7482-465a-a13f-f12aa62e53cf"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Satellite cities: opportunities for Christ in Hong Kong"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:49:36Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:33:33Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["4d6861f6-296f-4ee0-993e-b740d95edfcf"],"hasLease_ssim":["b554c20a-203c-4364-95b1-8a25fe35b02c"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Western Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Bruce Ker"],"year_tesim":["1985"],"location_tesim":["Hong Kong"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Harry Ambacher"],"publisher_tesim":["Western Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["City missions","Evangelistic work","Church growth"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project captures the challenge of the satellite cities of Hong Kong, which is a great opportunity for Christ in one of the great urban areas of the world. Schwarz reportedly conducted the most comprehensive church growth study ever with a scope that was drawn from more than one thousand churches in thirty-two countries on all five continents. The research results confirm that healthy churches are growing churches. To understand this new concept of church growth, the objectives of this thesis are: (1) to study the concept of natural church development; (2) to search for the biblical and theological basis of this concept; (3) to develop a mature concept that incorporates responses from some Christian leaders; (4) to discuss the major points of each quality characteristic; and (5) to create a relevant training program for natural church development. This product will be basically divided into two main parts: in part one, we will first study the history, concepts and principles of church growth, as well as church health. We will then turn to study the new concept of natural church development as developed by Christian Schwarz. In part two, we will concentrate on the eight quality characteristics that are the essences of natural church development. Other than these two main parts, in the appendix A and B, we will attempt to create a relevant training program for healthy church development, including a student's guide and a teacher's guide. Since the materials, which related organizations can provide, are only for the advanced level, this project is to provide practical means for leaders to use in creating a healthy-growing atmosphere that promotes the concept of natural church development in their local church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Western Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["910240dd-6bfb-49cb-ab06-1b8de036aac8"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132883585335296,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:10:28.346Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":9,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Brian L Lee","hits":1,"label":"Brian L Lee"},{"value":"Francis C Choi","hits":1,"label":"Francis C Choi"},{"value":"Harry Ambacher","hits":1,"label":"Harry Ambacher"},{"value":"James R Russom","hits":1,"label":"James R Russom"},{"value":"John W Tien","hits":1,"label":"John W Tien"},{"value":"Lavern E Brown","hits":1,"label":"Lavern E Brown"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Church growth","hits":9,"label":"Church growth"},{"value":"Change--Religious aspects","hits":1,"label":"Change--Religious aspects"},{"value":"Church","hits":1,"label":"Church"},{"value":"City missions","hits":1,"label":"City missions"},{"value":"Congregations","hits":1,"label":"Congregations"},{"value":"Erikson, Erik H.
