He integrated the developmental stages of Erik Erikson, James Fowler and the classical order of salvation and developed a grid that can be used descriptively and prescriptively in charting the life development of a congregation.  He also added a level entitled faith dynamic which identifies the type of faith experience that becomes the major theme at specific stages of development.  The author has formally and informally used the grid both as a pastor and as a consultant.
