The purpose was to gain insight into the impact of war-related trauma and to examine the perceived needs of the community in the post-war context. The primary methodology was phenomenological - examining spiritual understanding, traumatic events experienced, the impact of the trauma, coping mechanisms and support systems, cultural factors, and perceived needs. The continued psychological, physiological, and spiritual impact of the war-related trauma was notable.  Implications for Christian ministry were addressed, with special consideration of the Murle concept of 'forgetting.'"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Western Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["910240dd-6bfb-49cb-ab06-1b8de036aac8"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131776968556544,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:52:52.994Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:26:03Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:06:40Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"bef10f4e-611a-4fe7-8793-dbcecfc43653","accessControl_ssim":["a8bf1a2d-846b-496e-b66b-a64cce1dd520"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Biblical hermeneutics and ethnography methodologics bringing cross-cultural ministry closer to scripture and to people"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:26:03Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:37:55Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ab793900-3bcb-48fa-8b06-3294dfe91a12"],"hasLease_ssim":["e0502a52-2159-49d7-8d91-ee591ebeb858"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Western Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Donald K Smith"],"year_tesim":["2001"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["John Calom Kennington"],"publisher_tesim":["Western Seminary (Portland, OR)"],"subject_tesim":["Bible--Criticism, interpretation","Ethnology--Methodology","Mexico","Religion and culture"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this product is to make a comparison of process of biblical hermeneutics with methods used in ethnography. The author first examines the religious and cultural situation in Northeastern Mexico. Then a review of ethnographic and hermeneutic literature describe currents that lie behind ethnographic and biblical interpretation. Both disciplines are driven by worldviews and these worldviews can interfere with the understanding the natives' point of view. The author concludes that the two disciplines are similar, but differences in the precision are because one is a message while the other deals with general themes. The two disciplines also differ in ethical and religious implications because one is desriptive and the other prescriptive."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Western Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["910240dd-6bfb-49cb-ab06-1b8de036aac8"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132649003155456,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:06:44.631Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:26:02Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:55:46Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"42703771-9f4e-4fa0-9259-2f827cbd8cd7","accessControl_ssim":["af89508b-9284-4cfd-84bb-85e7a712cd5d"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A healthy biblical tension: discipling individuals in collectivist cultures"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:25:57Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:03:36Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["cbf7ccad-982c-4ca8-9625-420f06222f1f"],"hasLease_ssim":["ba4fee1f-50e8-4fdc-b482-51ef240f815b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Western Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Mikel Neumann"],"year_tesim":["2001"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Ruth Joy Knutson"],"publisher_tesim":["Western Seminary (Portland, OR)"],"subject_tesim":["Collectivism","Individualism","Religion and culture"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The single most important concept for developing understanding in intercultural interactions may well be the distinction between individualism and collectivism. This project is unique in evaluating the relationship of individualist and collectivist values and spiritual growth among university students in Navigator ministries. Does either collectivist or individualist cultural orientation predict spiritual growth? Conversely, how does spiritual growth predict cultural orientation' do Christ-followers become more collectivist as they obey biblical 'one another' commands? Some of the surprising research results may be attributed to demographic characteristics and the rapidly changing behavioral level of university students around the world. Among other data, my research indicated that the presence of strong collectivist traits (placing high value on the opinions of immediate and extended family and friends) predicts growth in Godward disciplines."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Western Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["910240dd-6bfb-49cb-ab06-1b8de036aac8"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131961651101696,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:55:49.121Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":3,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"John Calom Kennington","hits":1,"label":"John Calom Kennington"},{"value":"Karen J Fancher","hits":1,"label":"Karen J Fancher"},{"value":"Ruth Joy Knutson","hits":1,"label":"Ruth Joy Knutson"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Religion and culture","hits":3,"label":"Religion and culture"},{"value":"Bible--Criticism, interpretation","hits":1,"label":"Bible--Criticism, interpretation"},{"value":"Christians","hits":1,"label":"Christians"},{"value":"Collectivism","hits":1,"label":"Collectivism"},{"value":"Ethnic conflict","hits":1,"label":"Ethnic conflict"},{"value":"Ethnology--Methodology","hits":1,"label":"Ethnology--Methodology"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[{"value":"South Sudan","hits":1,"label":"South Sudan"},{"value":"Sudan","hits":1,"label":"Sudan"}],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":3,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"Western Seminary (Portland, OR)","hits":3,"label":"Western Seminary (Portland, OR)"}],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":3,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"2001","hits":2,"label":"2001"},{"value":"2012","hits":1,"label":"2012"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"Western Seminary","hits":3,"label":"Western Seminary"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":3,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Western Seminary","hits":3,"label":"Western Seminary"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Atla RIM","hits":3,"label":"Atla RIM"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":3,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
