Several congregational issues exist concerning end of life in the African American community. African-American ministers are not immune to these pressures. They face difficulties due to external racial conflicts as well as internal challenges from their congregations due to racial expectations. There is a breach in the ministry that some African-American ministers seem to have overlooked; it is their family. While it is clear that many African-American ministers and their families are walking with God and standing tall in their respective ministries, many are failing, causing a ripple effect in their churches, communities, and homes. Research conducted identified that other Black church studies Doctor of Ministry programs may have gaps relating to collaborative efforts between the academy and practical ministry.  A survey questionnaire was used to identify the interest in participating in such a model and the structural design for the model.
