The focus of this dissertation was to discover why these men enter the PCA. Study reveals that pastors are drawn to the denomination as a result of reformed theology, the divine call to racial reconciliation, and the desire to plants churches as a strategy to build the kingdom of God. It examines the history of African American clergy leadership education and African American theological reflection that informs such educational programs. Qualitative data gathered from interviews of persons who have participated in African American clergy leadership education programs serve as a measure of program effectiveness by offering crucial information to African American clergy who serve both church and community.
