To accomplish this task, this investigation uses a detailed literature review to provide a rationale and a theological context for churches to serve as a conduit for economic empowerment. Additionally, it presents and analyzes secondary data from the independent sector to determine the current level of economic programs which are being organized by churches today. A case analysis of the economic empowerment techniques used by churches involved in the Industrial Areas Foundation is also introduced. Thirdly, interviews with pastors of several churches with economic assistance/empowerment programs are included. Based upon these data, this project introduces a step-by-step individual economic empowerment model which can be adopted by African American churches and pastors across the country as part of their stewardship program."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata American Seventh-Day Adventist clergyman, this writer has struggled with designing a worship service that is rational enough to be accepted by traditional Adventists yet emotional enough to be appreciated by typical African Americans. This project is an historical overview of Seventh-Day Adventist and African religious culture, seeking to extract the principal tenets of each tradition to blend them into a more dynamic worship style that is appealing to the African American community and faithful to the traditions and objectives of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church at the same time. This project suggests that since traditional Black Seventh-Day Adventist public evangelism typically combines 'the truth' (rationality) with rhythm (emotion), by coloring the weekly worship service with these elements, a dynamic worship style could result. Such a style would satisfy the rational and emotive dimensions of the Neo-Pentecostal worship style that is predicted to dominate the African American worship scene for decades to come."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7e2d3cb-fc51-4ba5-a7fd-d43f3f8c150b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131986514935808,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:56:12.833Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:05:01Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:07:59Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"2c5d2d6a-c1bc-492b-ba1e-356d8c941233","accessControl_ssim":["2f592302-0976-4ff9-9bc3-75de9e4f095b"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The development of a model which equips African-American adults to be mentors for Boy Scouts...promoting responsible Christian adulthood"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:05:00Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:25:37Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["5a96031f-4364-401b-8292-170edb5495ef"],"hasLease_ssim":["5dfae0de-1fdb-4cde-89c0-1f443392751b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Perkins School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Zan W Holmes"],"year_tesim":["1992"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["David M Copeland"],"keyword_tesim":["Youth-adult relationship"],"publisher_tesim":["Perkins School of Theology Southern Methodist University"],"subject_tesim":["African Americans","Rites and ceremonies","Boy Scouts of America","Mentoring in church work"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this practicum/project was to renew and restore traditions and the process that develops a mentoring model by which young men can begin to impart internalized beliefs and thoughts.
