AI is a process that can lead to vision discernment by building on past successes and creating a sense of missional alignment. AI is based on organizational and social theory that, when combined with theological understandings, provide the church and leadership with a methodology for discernment that will engage a large portion of a congregation. This is a grounded study that engaged a 1200+ membership church in a large AI. Using the tools of AI, a vision statement was composed and became formative in the church's mission."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127433757327360,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:43:50.985Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:01:19Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:55:44Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"08578bd6-1acc-4c14-8a72-86596216dc6d","accessControl_ssim":["76f0b531-e61b-4111-9cc6-63daefe65fd4"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Stories told: using narrative tools during a time of pastor transition at South Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, Middletown, Connecticut"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:01:18Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:21:31Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["6ec121d6-5500-4286-af81-3279310c3e19"],"hasLease_ssim":["4f2fdc58-b102-40f8-a7e8-2be218b8b869"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Hartford Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Scott Thumma"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Charlotte T Wright"],"publisher_tesim":["Hartford Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Narrative theology","Clergy--Appointment, call, and election","Appreciative inquiry","South Congregational Church (Middletown, Conn)","United Church of Christ"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This D.Min. project was conducted during a pastor (interim) transition at South Congregational Church UCC in Middletown Connecticut. The three tools were 1) a Lenten-Eastertide sermon series; 2) remembering the church's history using their 250th anniversary banners; and 3) an Appreciative Inquiry process.
