This analysis employs the concept of addiction, especially in its symbolic meaning. Archetypal addiction is to dedicate, consecrate, and devote to the gods. The archetype of addiction has been split. We see this splitting especially in the areas of extroversion-introversion, persona-shadow, and animus-anima. A sense of the real comes through the healing of these splits. In living a genuine addiction, religious persons open themselves to the power of symbolic transformation."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["63ab0f5c-c5fb-460c-b8ba-dd2fd91f7145"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133227423891456,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:15:56.256Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:02:23Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:12:41Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"031503f7-4e5a-4f42-a7b5-9d075d1544fc","accessControl_ssim":["eb4ddde1-7f8f-4463-8d97-1362cc935656"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Drama of the soul: a psychological study of archetypal themes of individuation in fairy tales and the Bible as story"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:02:22Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:12:21Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["42a2bcb8-8ebb-4044-8389-93ad2b48f5f5"],"hasLease_ssim":["0f2071e6-043f-401b-9661-66bfd501b9a8"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"advisor_tesim":["Paul Huss"],"year_tesim":["1990"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Alan W Grant"],"publisher_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"subject_tesim":["Faith development","Archetype (Psychology)","Psychology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Christianity is founded not upon abstract theological principles, but in experience related through story. The biblical sagas were mythic containers of truths which were primary and immediate. Their relevance to the journey of the individual soul was unquestioned. This is no longer true. The historical progression of western Christianity has led to a constrictive orthodoxy based upon assent to stated dogma. A return to faith as primary inner experience requires a rediscovery of symbols and archetypal themes as they are carried in myth and fairy tales. Jungian psychology provides insights into this enterprise and suggests possibilities for parish renewal."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["63ab0f5c-c5fb-460c-b8ba-dd2fd91f7145"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133025504854016,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:12:43.690Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:03:17Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:37:01Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"81578923-a7f6-448e-88ac-ee24a1d18c6f","accessControl_ssim":["a2621d32-944b-4f56-88cc-19a69451407c"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Jung's answer to Job as a key to preaching Job"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:03:16Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:56:49Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e463074a-b2ab-4587-a470-a31a814cea1f"],"hasLease_ssim":["8fc06ed7-71bb-4a74-a4d5-f1aad5a2e87c"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Perkins School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Virgil P Howard"],"year_tesim":["1988"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["C Sydnor Thompson"],"publisher_tesim":["Perkins School of Theology Southern Methodist University"],"subject_tesim":["Jung, C. The project explores the theological implications of Jung's effort to integrate the light and dark, the masculine and feminine, the conscious and unconscious aspects of the God image in treating the problem of evil. The project demonstrates how a monotheistic understanding of God might temper the dualistic tendency in the Christian tradition and thus bring wholeness to the individual's understanding of God, self, and community. Finally, the project discusses the effectiveness of five sermons on Job in articulating Jung's understanding of the God archetype for an East Texas United Methodist congregation."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Perkins School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["9d359def-dc0f-4ac7-a978-8df771bc0984"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127008014499840,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:37:04.965Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:19:53Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:32:44Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"42184a94-2a6f-43eb-a598-c490a4c4a0b8","accessControl_ssim":["924483f0-cc2e-48e5-a9d6-fb34bdc064b5"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Archetype, mission, and the human journey: a curriculum"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:19:52Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:02:54Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["183b4ed6-da9f-4105-8268-849bc0122516"],"hasLease_ssim":["60feab4e-a4ae-460c-b7b1-ea47032d0325"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["George Carter"],"year_tesim":["2000"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["LaurieAnn Yeisley-Drogin"],"publisher_tesim":["Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Religion","Mental Health","Archetype (Psychology)","Maturation (Psychology)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project proposes development of a curriculum that draws upon the fields of theology, anthropology, and psychology in order to increase the sense of vocation, purpose, and life satisfaction in individuals experiencing life transition or restlessness.
