The goal was to improve the quality of 'spiritual' life of the participants through a primary focus of 'spiritual painting' accompanied by prayer, meditation, and Bible story reading. Most of the participants suffered from either or both mental and physical disability. Even though normal communication and activity participation was somewhat limited, meaningful qualitative and quantitative assessments were obtained. Writings of theologians John Calvin, Paul Tillich, Michael Polanyi, Douglas John Hall, and artists M. C. Richards, Paulus Berehnson, Catherine Kapikian, and Daniel de Montmollin, Brother of Taize, are considered. Church members, staff, and participants in More than a meal program at Idlewild Church, a program for persons who are homeless or living in compromised situations, were invited to join a series of pottery classes, resulting in nearly sixty persons working together every week, over a seven-week period, concluding with an exhibit of 652 finished pots. Min. project is concerned with our contemporary quest for an experience of the divine. It promotes a way of learning that is visual, personal and expressive intended to assist those who are seeking God to be aware of God's presence in and through the scriptures. More specifically, it proposes that through faith our 'spiritual senses' are awakened; and when faith, imagination, theological reflection and the visual tableau are used creatively the ordinary that surrounds us can assist and enhance our experience of scripture, fostering and deepening our relationship with God."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["63ab0f5c-c5fb-460c-b8ba-dd2fd91f7145"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133206976659456,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:15:36.756Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T08:07:11Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:57:50Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1b24bacc-2ef6-4cd0-8a08-7fcaba514ec2","accessControl_ssim":["5715972a-5619-42f3-96d6-802ce04b82b8"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["New visions and voices for small vessels: the experience of multimedia art in small church worship"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T08:07:10Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:55:49Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["52e6039f-c05f-43ef-bb58-c4b67933772a"],"hasLease_ssim":["0942c7b3-5459-4e02-bc19-47c74881fc8a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Lucy Lind Hogan"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min.
