Grounded in an action in ministry consisting of twelve guided conversations, this thesis explores the extent to which their experience of this phenomenon outside the gathered church influences how Anglicans relate to and participate in their congregation.  No distinction was discerned between their perceptions of power inside and outside the gathered church. Using two composite case-histories from overseas and domestic ministries, together with classes and readings as background, the study discovers the necessity for a genuine sense of self and a perspective of subjective and objective truth in all relationships.  It is essential to see and understand one's own personhood within any system, such as a family, a congregation, or even a school of thought.
