This resource utilized the educational theories of Thomas Groome and John Westerhoff.  The dissertation describes the situational context and problem, theology of sacraments and baptism, educational theory, basic theological and educational assumptions and methods, educational program, culminating worship service, and evaluation.  The outcome of the program was a resounding success.  The theories and design were validated. The study also gives a model for baptismal preparation.  The method of study is a survey sent to two groups, adults who were baptized when junior youth and pastors and teachers in the KS-NE conference. The results show that the expectations differ between the two groups with respect to peer influence, personal conviction, and religious behavior. A hypothesis that the use of singular or plural pronouns in corporate prayer would effect the degree to which the participant experienced forgiveness was tested.  A questionnaire developed by James Emerson, and modified for this study, was used to collect data.  The research suggests the need for a rite of passage for persons who make a public profession of faith and become members of the church.
