The value of denominationalism itself is in question. An answer to the decline of the mainline Christian church lies in a reimplementation of the principles of 'incarnational hospitality.' Incarnational hospitality involves the church interacting with its world ad Jesus did: incarnationally, conveying the living God into the world of people. This is done through the practice of the three principles of biblical hospitality: protection, provision, and renewal. It begins with the New Testament church and traces the development of both sacraments up to the present day. The work of Piaget, Erikson, Kohlberg, and Fowler serve to examine the potential for Christian education in the church as it relates to the nurture of baptized children. Possible Christian education approaches are offered as a means of facilitating a proper understanding of the sacraments."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["7d2ba5b6-aeec-459a-aaec-e1eed75d32f0"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134310456098816,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:33:09.115Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:57:45Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:10:43Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9c21b3e9-b838-49c9-b6eb-a6c915ed9b90","accessControl_ssim":["155ca7b6-4f5b-48cb-a9ad-d24bca431a95"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Baptism and eucharist: an ecumenical inquiry"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:57:44Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:42:10Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["a169a4b8-351b-4247-b1fc-471762a9f048"],"hasLease_ssim":["b9cb1fb7-574d-40da-875b-2bf2a280ce32"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["John D Godsey"],"year_tesim":["1984"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The group explored the baptism and eucharist sections of the Faith and Order document Baptism, Eucharist and Ministry, and provided feedback to the World Council of Churches. The denominations represented were: Episcopalian, Presbyterian, Progressive Baptist, Southern Baptist, and United Methodist. The project brings together some basic aspects of sacramental theology, the historical journeys of the various liturgical traditions represented in the group, and the convergence in sacramental thought that characterizes the present ecumenical community. It provides a model for doing theology ecumenically in a small town setting with both clergy and laity."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791125353342697472,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:10:46.946Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":6,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
