The project director facilitated a four-week seminar with the deacons using small group study, large group discussion, and assignments outside the class to encourage group participation in the completion of the new member program design.  The deacons, then, engaged in leading a group of new members through a three-hour new member assimilation course. The deacons developed a greater understanding and awareness of the need for new member assimilation. He preached six sermons, led six dig deeper sessions, and a Lord's Supper celebration.  The projector director used congregational questionnaires and response forms for research and evaluation. The church has grown rapidly in the past four years. Many of the people added to the church have come from completely secular backgrounds or Christian traditions other than evangelical. These new members must be trained in order to retain them. The plan of ministry will be for the writer to recruit a team of eight to ten mentors. These mentors will be trained for a period of four weeks. In the implementation phase, the mentors will meet weekly with new members for discussion of the previous Sunday morning message as well as some additional Bible study. An evaluation will be performed at every stage of the process. The mentors will evaluate each training session. Both mentors and new members will evaluate each message and mentoring session. The project director used an experimental method of research with an experimental and control group.  The director used eleven teaching sessions, eight doctrinal sermons, and a pre-test/post-test to accomplish the goal.
