The poject director enlisted volunteers who expressed a desire to lead short-term mission projects to participate in the training. The participants developed a proposed short-term mission project which will take place in the next two years based on the content of the training. Dr. Mike Edens and an international missionary evaluated the validity of the research. Dr. Sonia Carrington provided expert advice and a critique of the curriculum and the project director's increased knowledge of curriculum design. The following evaluative measures authenticated the project: (1) expert advice on the research from Dr. Scott Pittman, a Brazilian missionary and Partnership Missions Department Director of the Kentucky Baptist Convention, and Rev. Rick Thompson, a career missionary with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, serving in Brazil; (2) training in the development of teaching plans from Dr. James Ramage, an author and professor at Northern Kentucky University; and (3) evaluations by the selected group at the completion of the training sessions. The eight-week study sought to empower students with an understanding of what being a disciple means and having an ability to implement the practices of disciples. At the conclusion of the workshop, students were equipped to begin meeting with two or three students, training them to be disciple-making disciples. The need for this training was significant due to an apparent void of university students who are disciple-making disciples.
