It first explored the thread of 'community' throughout Scriptures, from the relational Triune Creator (Genesis 1) to the final community of faith (Revelation). Touching the OT faith community, this thread passed through Jesus' life and teaching before focusing upon the NT church and the 'one-another' commands. This writer theorized that a preacher's homiletical skills would increase when exposed to an understanding of the various biblical genres.  The theory evolved into the development of a survey-style seminary course taught at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.  The data collected from the test instruments administered during the course supported this writer's theory.  Chapter 1 of this thesis-project presented the problem and its setting. The problem was the need for a survey-style preaching course from the perspective of the biblical genres, and the setting for the thesis-project was the Leveall College of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary located in Decatur, Georgia.  Chapters 2 and 3 detailed the theological framework for this thesis-project.  The framework included an understanding of expository preaching, holistic interpretation of the Scriptures, and the incorporation of the biblical genres into the art of expository preaching.  Chapter 4 presented the literature review for this thesis project.  Sidney Greidanus's The Modern Preacher and the Ancient Text served as the skeletal foundation for this thesis-project.  Chapter 5 detailed the implementation of the project, the teaching of a new survey-style preaching course.
