The result is that many preachers fail to deliver expository messages from such passages. This thesis-project makes the case tha6t expository preaching is the only reliable way to proclaim God or his will; supports this by examining God's nature, God's revelation, and biblical authority; and provides a mini-book to equip preachers to deliver expository messages from Old Testament Narratives. A literature review explores contemporary theories of interpretation, Old Testament narrative art, and pericopal theology of Old Testament narratives. This thesis-project provides a preaching series on the book of Philippians.  It will be used as a case study to show preachers the value of connecting the ideas of individual passages in a book to the book's bigger idea. The author's method of study includes educated sources such as theological commentaries, lexicons, secular and religious reference books, journals, newspapers, the internet and personal interviews. The conclusion the author reaches is that the debate centered on biblical interpretation of scripture is subjective to one's Christian faith persuasion. The biblically orthodox Christian faith belief opposes homosexuality and supports the traditional family value system. The unorthodox Christian viewpoint favors a revisionist theology that redefines homosexual practice as ordained by God and therefore morally acceptable. Then, it examines scholarly resources and those intended for lay persons to discover the topics which need to be addressed.
