This study investigates the potential of a community-based, integrative approach—specifically missional communities (MCs) adopting a holistic body-mind-spirit-communal relationship (BMSC) framework—to\r\nsupport sustainable recovery. Drawing on twenty years of experience in addiction treatment, the researcher examines how MCs facilitate transformation across multiple stages of recovery, helping individuals once deemed incurable develop a renewed identity as disciples of Jesus and\r\nintegrate into Christian communities and church life. The study addresses why many recovering individuals struggle to permanently abandon prior\r\naddictive behaviors, and explores the spiritual, communal, and psychosocial mechanisms that support lasting change. Guided by mixed-methods research, including qualitative interviews and quantitative measures, the study evaluates the impact of BMSC-based MCs on participants’ holistic recovery, participation in Christian communities and church, relationship with God, and commitment to discipleship. The findings aim to produce an evidence-based addiction recovery that provides practical guidance for pastors, counselors, social workers, and helpers, fostering holistic, spiritually grounded transformation and lifelong recovery."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1854867658835492864,"timestamp":"2026-01-20T20:07:26.564Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-01-24T18:33:26Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-01-24T18:33:28Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ba92dd9f-372b-4cff-b6e6-aae7dc8f57ce","accessControl_ssim":["e411e7da-0724-4bb4-9b83-10340ffbe3e9"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["An Examination of Moral Injury Care as Practiced by Clinically Trained US Navy Chaplains: Toward a More Effective Professional Approach to Moral Injury Prevention, Detection, and Healing for Active Duty Military Personnel and Veterans"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-01-24T18:33:26Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-01-24T18:33:26Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["fa208015-b8c9-4f22-8fa9-21f5f754b159"],"hasLease_ssim":["ad617d6b-67b4-40ee-a3e7-9d816632da61"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry "],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University "],"year_tesim":["2024"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Moral injury is gaining awareness across all branches of the armed forces. However, it is not a new concern; it is as old as humanity itself. Learning how to identify and care for moral injury is a developing process that mental health and clergy professionals are seeking guidance to better address needs. I am a member of the US Navy Chaplain Corps and wanted to know what this community knows about moral injury and what would this group of peers want to learn about providing care to those facing moral injury. After conducting interviews of seven Navy Chaplains, seven themes were found through reflective thematic analysis: (A) US Navy Chaplains are strategically placed and appropriately trained to care for moral injury. (B) Foundation of faith directly impacts ability to cope with moral injury. (C) Spiritual and emotional pain is common among those suffering from moral injury. (D) Peer support and trusted sharing are an important part of moral injury healing. (E) Pastoral counseling and listening are vital to moral injury support. (F) Confession is a helpful part of moral injury healing. (G) Finally, strengthening spirituality protects against potential morally injurious events. Navy Chaplains are asking for more specialized moral injury training, because they are embedded close to those who are most impacted with morally injurious events. They are also asking for moral injury detection tools, counseling skills, and training briefs that will enhance their ministry outcomes."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1822156243298418688,"timestamp":"2025-01-24T18:33:29.713Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-01-21T04:59:29Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-01-21T04:59:32Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a4458bc3-044c-45a1-a516-a926e28d3b5e","accessControl_ssim":["52f2c53c-95dc-478b-8cae-811ef07852f4"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["Missional Communities as a Strategy for Discipleship in an African-American Megachurch in Chicago"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-01-21T04:59:29Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-01-21T04:59:29Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["cc10984d-700d-49a9-9990-92ed1e7bce6a"],"hasLease_ssim":["624a60c2-ed49-4ab9-a2ec-ed4c2673049b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry "],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University "],"year_tesim":["2024"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. It is transitioning out of the pandemic, wrestling with its apologetic and ministry response to a post-Christendom America amid a gentrifying community and in the nascent stages of pastoral change. Despite having existed since 1932 with a membership of 10,000 people, it is a Baby Boomer church looking to sustain and scale its reach. The church is a gospel-centered, grace-grounded ἐκκλησία with a legacy of evangelism and community advocacy. To continue its legacy, however, it must adjust its approach to discipleship by embracing a missional communities’ strategy that facilitates biblical literacy, relationship building, volunteerism, and gospel proclamation. These four elements of the missional communities’ model are derived from the practices of the Jerusalem church in Acts 2:42–47. Though not prescriptive, they offer a biblical framework for building the church’s communal life. The missional communities’ model is a repurposing of what worked when the church found itself on the margins of Judea’s religious and social life; the church grew stronger in the Scriptures, in κοινωνία, in mighty deeds, and in winning souls. This study offers promising data that focusing on these four areas of discipleship can lead to similar results as the early church. Those who participate improve their ability to understand and explain Scripture, develop genuine relationships with their fellow parishioners, volunteer at church and in their communities, and increase their confidence and ability to share their faith. Quantitative questionnaires, qualitative interviews, field observations, and researcher-generated documents validate the research. This triangulation of the data provides dependability to the researcher's findings and conclusions. The Apostolic Church of God has tested and proven the potential of the missional communities’ strategy. It is now positioned to duplicate this framework in its internal ministries and the zip codes where its members live."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1821833243364687872,"timestamp":"2025-01-21T04:59:32.972Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-01-13T16:19:27Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-01-13T16:19:28Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"b6137f7e-7f50-4a6c-beb5-97c499be8f23","accessControl_ssim":["a9bf103b-f57e-4ad9-aaf0-17e6465dc548"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["The Impact of Cultural Diversity Month Towards Equipping and Unleashing an Intercultural Congregation for Gospel Outreach"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-01-13T16:19:26Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-01-13T16:19:26Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ffed1725-c0b3-4527-9516-feb5d67a259e"],"hasLease_ssim":["23aabd85-41d1-4d49-bd78-c42bec9e89e4"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University"],"year_tesim":["2024"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The project corresponded with SVBC’s mission of “equipping and unleashing cultures and generations to authentically live out the Gospel everywhere” and addresses the importance of intercultural unity as a core biblical value.\r\n\r\nThe project’s approach integrates theological foundations, such as the imago Dei and imago Christi, biblical reconciliation, and the redemptive mission of God for all peoples, explored through a sermon series with themes of Identity, Lament, Reconciliation, and Mission. This theological framework sets the stage for qualitative research conducted through focus group interviews to analyze the perspectives of SVBC members on the impact of Cultural Diversity Month. Key findings include enhanced cultural awareness, new relational connections across cultural lines, and a deeper engagement with biblical themes of unity and diversity. Participants expressed a sense of shared identity in Christ, an appreciation for diverse expressions of worship, and a strengthened commitment to living out SVBC’s mission in their daily lives.\r\n\r\nThe project concludes with practical recommendations for SVBC, including steps for ongoing intercultural integration, the development of culturally sensitive outreach strategies, and strengthening SVBC’s mission through regular worship that reflects the congregation’s cultural diversity. The insights gained from this project offer potential insights for other churches aiming to establish an intercultural community that reflects the global body of Christ, supporting a\r\ncongregation that worships, serves, and grows together across cultural boundaries."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1821151245933477888,"timestamp":"2025-01-13T16:19:29.537Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"D.Min.
