It provides an edition of General Intercessions suitable for use during the celebration of the eucharist.  Upon the thesis that the Intercessions are a response to the proclamation of the word in the assembly, the Intercessions of this edition are drawn upon biblical texts of the day. The author researched and validated the centrality of preaching in the Baptist churches and shows that although Baptist theology of Scripture is high, it is characterized by narrowness seen in the use of favorite Scripture themes and biblical books.  He researched Baptist pulpit giants and states their method of text selection of waiting upon the Holy Spirit.
