Simply having hundreds of missionaries, being actively involved in witnessing, evangelism, and church planting, or maintaining a large mission’s budget does not necessarily make a church missional. In a missional church, every member understands God’s mission, recognizes their role as someone who is sent, and intentionally participates in God’s ongoing work by living out their faith with the purpose of reaching the lost.\r\n\r\nAnother important finding is the common belief that only ministers or those appointed by the church are responsible for missions. Many individuals who strive to live out their faith at home, at work, and in other settings still feel guilty for not fully obeying God’s command in the Great Commission because they have not gone to distant or remote places to preach the gospel. The New Testament concept of the priesthood of all believers is not well understood.\r\nThese challenges are likely present in many churches around the world, not just in Nigeria or Africa. God calls His Church to be missional, so teaching about God’s mission and how to actively participate in it should be a top priority for every church.\r\n"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1854867927884365824,"timestamp":"2026-01-20T20:11:43.148Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-04-22T19:22:09Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-04-23T13:42:35Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ee9f8ee3-2724-4db1-839b-f9ccd208c3b2","accessControl_ssim":["e464f09f-25fa-4c1b-a5f3-2afd8647bb85"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["The Impact of Emotional Intelligence on Decision-Making in Youth Within the Greater Grand Crossing Community of Chicago"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-04-22T19:22:08Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-04-23T13:42:35Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["4a3fb9e2-b6f4-495a-8b1d-cffdb8c960f7"],"hasLease_ssim":["be984a71-2771-4eab-a1b9-14697e8c0f24"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University"],"year_tesim":["2025"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Through a mixed-methods approach combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews, the researcher implemented a six-week emotional intelligence program for fifteen African American high school students. The intervention consisted of two community excursions (a toy distribution service project and a bowling event) and four weekly coaching sessions focused on self-awareness, empathy, assertiveness, and heart-based decision-making.\r\n\r\nThe research was grounded in both theological and theoretical frameworks that emphasized the heart as the center of meaningful behavioral change, aligning with emotional intelligence principles. Data collection included pre- and post-intervention surveys, interviews, participant journaling, direct observation, and focus groups. Results demonstrated significant improvements in participants' decision-making approaches, with measurable growth in analytical thinking, reduced reliance on external validation, and increased decision confidence. Behavioral observations revealed enhanced social skills, empathy, and leadership emergence.\r\n\r\nThe findings suggest that developing emotional intelligence provides youth with effective tools to process trauma and make better decisions. This improvement was particularly evident in the dramatic increase in participant engagement between the first and second excursions. The project contributes valuable insights into addressing youth violence through heart-focused interventions rather than solely behavior-focused approaches, offering a model for community partnerships between law enforcement, schools, and faith communities to foster positive youth development in marginalized urban contexts."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1830201071766601728,"timestamp":"2025-04-23T13:42:36.003Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-02-24T22:41:56Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-02-24T22:41:58Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"87fd824d-5983-47a8-8568-ebe176b8c494","accessControl_ssim":["b59db719-e972-4a4c-aca3-813d5810a7c0"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["Praying Together: Hearing, Discussing, Practicing, and Applying the Lord's Prayer at First Evangelical Free Church of Sioux City Iowa"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-02-24T22:41:55Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-02-24T22:41:55Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["eadc42a0-bc8c-43ec-8a0a-51f00d6ff9a5"],"hasLease_ssim":["80c2136a-ebc6-4c22-86bb-5b0559990eb4"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University"],"year_tesim":["2025"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Evangelical churches in the modern era are no exception: while we often have solid processes for growing in our knowledge of scripture or for fellowship with fellow believers, rarely do we focus on growth in prayer. On the rare times when we do, such growth is often individual in nature rather than congregational. This imbalance is highlighted all the more when we consider that many of the existing works and programs addressing prayer are often written to address individual–rather than congregational–practices.\r\n\r\nThis project was primarily aimed at impacting the people of First Evangelical Free Church of Sioux City Iowa (Evangelical Free Church of America) in their practice of corporate prayer. This was done through two phases. The first consisted of an eight-week sermon series specifically focusing upon the Lord’s Prayer. The second phase of this intervention involved a nine-week workshop in which participants read and discussed selected prayers of the Bible alongside works from church history regarding prayer. These discussions then led into time spent praying in a group format, varying from 3-5 participants around a table to an entire workshop of 31 participants. The overall goal was to teach participants how the Lord’s Prayer provides both an example and a framework for biblical prayer in such a way that they could then apply that framework to other passages throughout the Bible in natural and contextually faithful ways.\r\nEvaluation surveys and interviews revealed that the interventions of this project were successful in their goals of making prayer part of how FEFC went about being and making disciples, and that growth was self-reported by participants in both individual and group contexts.\r\n"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1824980382784684032,"timestamp":"2025-02-24T22:41:59.007Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-01-24T18:33:26Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-01-24T18:33:28Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ba92dd9f-372b-4cff-b6e6-aae7dc8f57ce","accessControl_ssim":["e411e7da-0724-4bb4-9b83-10340ffbe3e9"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["An Examination of Moral Injury Care as Practiced by Clinically Trained US Navy Chaplains: Toward a More Effective Professional Approach to Moral Injury Prevention, Detection, and Healing for Active Duty Military Personnel and Veterans"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-01-24T18:33:26Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-01-24T18:33:26Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["fa208015-b8c9-4f22-8fa9-21f5f754b159"],"hasLease_ssim":["ad617d6b-67b4-40ee-a3e7-9d816632da61"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry "],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University "],"year_tesim":["2024"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Moral injury is gaining awareness across all branches of the armed forces. However, it is not a new concern; it is as old as humanity itself. Learning how to identify and care for moral injury is a developing process that mental health and clergy professionals are seeking guidance to better address needs. I am a member of the US Navy Chaplain Corps and wanted to know what this community knows about moral injury and what would this group of peers want to learn about providing care to those facing moral injury. After conducting interviews of seven Navy Chaplains, seven themes were found through reflective thematic analysis: (A) US Navy Chaplains are strategically placed and appropriately trained to care for moral injury. (B) Foundation of faith directly impacts ability to cope with moral injury. (C) Spiritual and emotional pain is common among those suffering from moral injury. (D) Peer support and trusted sharing are an important part of moral injury healing. (E) Pastoral counseling and listening are vital to moral injury support. (F) Confession is a helpful part of moral injury healing. (G) Finally, strengthening spirituality protects against potential morally injurious events. Navy Chaplains are asking for more specialized moral injury training, because they are embedded close to those who are most impacted with morally injurious events. They are also asking for moral injury detection tools, counseling skills, and training briefs that will enhance their ministry outcomes."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1822156243298418688,"timestamp":"2025-01-24T18:33:29.713Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"D.Min.
