These efforts will be channeled toward conclusions which will aid the church in the present and future development of the relational Bible fellowship model. A series of seven sessions using guided imagery revealed that this method did make the members more aware of God in their daily lives and activities, in relationships, in worship, and in their resolution of conflict. Being recognized by him as persons of value and God-given identity enabled these nonpersons to see themselves as beloved children of God. Since the church often has failed in welcoming the stranger: the homeless, homosexuals, and other marginalized people, a Bible Study was developed that emphasized the lost spiritual discipline of hospitality. Others are previously unchurched or 'General Protestant' and thus do not have a Presbyterian/Reformed understanding of the Biblical story (Biblical awareness).  Many had limited time to devote to learning, and the adult education offerings were limited in scope.  In this time of declining Biblical awareness, the goal was to help individuals learn that they are connected to the Biblical witness and need to see their lives as Christians committed to the community of faith with other faithful people.  To help them, this project used education, learning, and dialogue as the basic strategies, but other approaches ('strategic planning' and 're-framing') were utilized. The interventions were to have laity in the congregation design an overall program of Biblical awareness, help persons become grounded in the Biblical faith and see themselves as connected to that faith.  The approaches were initiated with classes, home-studies, creative experiences, and worship opportunities.  It was the aim of these interventions to help move individuals and the congregation to greater depth as Christians. They suggest that the practice of communal Bible study may be the key to re-forming the witness of local congregations. This project applies a missional hermeneutic, through the use of particular study questions, to the practice of communal Bible study in a local congregation. Discoveries made by participants are consistent with a 'missional church' understanding.
