The author researched the big idea process and taught the skill through lecture and dialogue.  This seminar helped students increase their skill in sermon development.  The primary skill taught and practiced centered on the discovery and development of the big idea of a Bible passage. If a church-based women's Bible study program aims to grow strategically, numerically and in biblical depth, it must consider the best way to solve this problem. This thesis-project argues that the alternative to training successful lecturers is to turn to video lecturers who cannot as effectively shepherd the flock, be as accessible as role-models of Christ-like character nor be available to answer questions, both of a biblical and personal nature. Specifically the goal is to help participants increase their effectiveness in expository preaching and teaching. The three core areas of the seminars are: (1) Discover the idea - learn how to identify the 'big idea' of a biblical passage; (2) Develop the idea - learn how to logically develop the biblical idea for presentation to a target audience; (3) Deliver the idea - learn how to implement a few key steps to communicate the logically-developed biblical idea to a target audience. The process is designed for those who have limited training. Matthew"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The author's purpose was to use creative stories (self-written and/or collected) to illustrate and illuminate the Beatitudes of Matthew 5:1-12 so they might be more easily incorporated and retained in the lives of hearers.  Over a period of 13 weeks the author presented stories over each beatitude, using pre-tests and post-tests, to measure any changes on the participant that may have been a result of the story's influence.  One week after the story the author presented a sermon on the previous beatitude to help underscore the point of the story itself.  At the beginning and end of the project, spiritual growth assessment inventories were administered to determine any overall changes in attitude and action.
