At times, depression results from exhaustion, anxiety, worry, and many bottled-up issues in people’s lives. People are depressed because they are unfulfilled in their careers, marital life, education, and plans. Unconfessed sin and wickedness of hearts can be the root cause of some depressive moods. When daily challenges become overwhelming and frustrating, people are spiritually drained and discouraged. What is needed for any individual struggling with a depressive mood is the Word of God through biblical counseling. Biblical counselors offer a compassionate heart and practical help through the biblical principles applied to the counselee’s life and situation.Christians (church members) are not immune from depression because it is real and can be overcome and conquered through reliance on the Holy Spirit and appropriate biblical principles. Biblical counselors should always keep in mind a holistic perspective of human nature. God created human beings holistically – body, spirit, and soul. When one part suffers, every other part suffers with it. Psychology, philosophy, and psychoanalysis (or psychotherapy) are human theories and philosophies that can only last for a short time. The Word of God (Scripture) is authentic, inspired, inerrant, sufficient, and authoritative for counseling tasks and is superior to anything the world’s wisdom offers. The Scripture has the power to change life and turn around situations. Regardless of the latest scientific discovery, research, and methodology, medical professionals still believe, according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), that ‘mental disorders’ including depression fall into such “diagnostic criteria” with a collection of symptoms known as syndromes. A syndrome is simply a collection of symptoms that a person is experiencing."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133223559888896,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:15:52.571Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:09:39Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:33:29Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"86fbc4c8-ab10-46d3-a180-46c2c396c52f","accessControl_ssim":["fd833f36-b6bc-414d-a276-17eecabc2b3d"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["In-Depth Interviews with Predecessors and Successors on Cultivating Excellence in Leadership Transitions in the Ethiopian Kale Heywet Church (EKHC) Head Office"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:09:38Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:06:32Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ceca99b8-b31d-424b-b2e6-30c8f6159bdf"],"hasLease_ssim":["331fec23-2db6-4e33-8aa3-b46be93b525e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["D. This study took place in Ethiopia and explored the perceptions of the Ethiopian Kale Heywet Church (EKHC) leaders’ advice to ensure a biblically based and contextually appropriate leadership transition strategy in the EKHC head office regarding predecessors and successors. It attempted to answer what these leaders perceive will ensure biblically and contextually appropriate leadership transition strategies. The study used the qualitative research design of in-depth interviews with twenty respondents (10 predecessors and 10 successors) who were purposefully selected from EKHC leadership constituents. The findings showed that the following aspects are vital for the smooth leadership transitions within the EKHC Head Office: (1) succession plan, (2) developing potential or tomorrow’s leaders through mentoring and coaching, (3) an attitude of Christlike humility, (4) election season events, (5) discipleship, (6) appreciative culture, and (7) relationship gaps.Furthermore, based on the findings, implications were found for practical application in smoothening leadership transitions: (1) introducing and developing a succession plan, (2) developing leaders through mentoring and coaching, (3) building an attitude of Christlike humility in predecessors and successors, (4) improving election season events, (5) cultivating discipleship in the lives of leaders, (6) nurturing an appreciative culture, and (7) building relationship in order to make leadership transitions healthy."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130560250249216,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:33:32.641Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:09:39Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:37:32Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"b0db6414-52ef-4333-b0c7-536a96c6f240","accessControl_ssim":["995be376-4e47-4656-b1aa-f0554ceacfff"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Train up a Parent in the Way they should Go: Parenting Preparation for Today's Society"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:09:38Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:14:07Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["359cc25c-bb08-4c23-a79d-0c864d1cf7b7"],"hasLease_ssim":["1030bb8a-c2f7-4c87-9a85-b98c8ad43e1c"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Educational Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Philip F. The short answer? There are many factors that contribute, but our family background is one of the largest contributions. Just as Proverbs 22:6 is true: “Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old, he will not depart from it,” the opposite would be true as well: Do not train up a child, and they will depart from “it”. What is “it”? “It” equals habits of godliness, wisdom, truth, fear of the Lord, and sanctification that comes from the training received from godly parents which extends to the next generation. Our mission to train up a child would be in jeopardy of the mandate that Solomon sets forth, if we did not train up a parent in the way they should go.Training is at the heart of this research project. Because there are many individuals who are about to be parents that do not pursue biblical parenting education training before they become parents, a conscious effort to strive to bridge our past with the present and create a bright future for our children, our family, and the generations that follow is integral to the success of parenting. If the concern for strong biblical parenting education is important, believers should be as adamant in pursuing this preparation as much as they are in beginning a biblical marriage with the right steps. Biblical marriages usually begin by the couple taking the time to pursue every avenue of preparation and advice that there is available. But that does not seem to be the case for the role of parenting. There appears to be a large deficit of understanding in the value of pursuing every avenue of preparation and advice available for this vital beginning of parenting. For some reason, the need is not there. It is quite puzzling and disheartening to know that this deficit exists when there is deep importance to this job.The research examined uses a hermeneutical phenomenological approach in the form of personal and group interviews, conversations with student parents of my elementary and secondary classes, and a university essay question from my university students. It was the goal of this project to create a plan of action that can be implemented to begin the journey of parenting with our aim fully on the target moving from working through one’s family background, to the success and the health of our marriage, to the implementation of a strong family unit. Let us train up a parent in the way they should go."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130814869667840,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:37:35.465Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Dissertation","hits":2,"label":"Dissertation"},{"value":"D.Ed.Min.
