A historical survey of stories of Japanese women who encountered Christianity in the 16th, 19th and first half of the 20th centuries is analyzed from the point of view of a theology of acceptance. Questionnaires were sent to 150 (99 returned) Presbyterian pastors.  The findings of these three studies were then correlated.  The results suggested 5 major styles of leadership: charismatic (Weber), dictatorial, participative, democratic, and laissez faire.
