Case studies and verbatims supplemented class presentations. The ten participants prepared additional studies from visits to inactive and prospective members, shut-ins and persons in crisis and grief.  Pre- and post-event instruments and interviews supplemented the evaluation data. Significant changes in the understanding and practice of caregiving as ministry were noted. The contextual approach developed by Ivan Boszormenyi-Nagy and the relational-ethical thinking of Martin Buber are applied. Based on these perspectives, the specific trust-building and trust-diminishing aspects of biblical teachings, the inherited church history, and present church life are investigated.  Modalities are outlined which reverse the process of losing trust and which enable persons to accept their relational responsibilities vis-à-vis others and the inherited legacy.
