It begins with an examination of the nature and origin of the visual arts with particular attention to the cartoon as an art form. The study then examines the role of humor in human experience.  It looks at the use of humor in the biblical narrative and its place in religious experience.  The theological implications of humor are explored through the use of humorous treatments of theological themes.  The study then examines the psychology of the self and the ways in which humor can be beneficial in gaining a deeper understanding of the self and explores the human spiritual journey with suggested ways in which humor can facilitate that quest.
