Three methods are used to discover the pastoral care issues: 1. a start-up instrument from the American Lutheran Church; 2. an emotional response record; and 3. a case study.  The project results in the development of a revised call process. The methods employed to accomplish this objective were lectures and case studies.  The procedures utilized included: enlisting a compatible group, designing an appropriate curriculum, and structuring an atmosphere for interaction.  A self-evaluating testing instrument, responded to by the participants in the first and last sessions, measured their growth in confidence as pastoral counselors.
