The researcher studied the assets these churches brought to the task, how the churches identified and evaluated these assets, and how the leadership of these churches mobilized their congregations in order to implement these assets and enable the youth to grow spiritually. Based on the results of the assessment, a six-week expository sermon series was prepared and delivered. Quantitative and qualitative evaluative procedures indicated that the series, informed by insights from the pastoral assessment, did enhance the congregation's sense that the messages were connecting with them. The exercise studied the church using cultural components that emerged in the literature review from the management field of non-profit organizations. The components that were discovered were then used to create a series of interviews and surveys for the volunteers. The result of the project concluded that the culture of Liberty Church contained six of eight components that are important for fostering high rates of volunteerism.
