Two churches that split fifteen years ago because of a dispute about leadership decided to merge again. This project uses the reconciliation of these two churches as a model for other congregations that may consider merging.  Three major criteria--philosophical, relational, and physical--are crucial factors for a successful merger.  Hindrances to unity stemmed from spiritual conflicts and a process requiring unanimous decisions.  Conflicts involved leadership issues, power plays by individuals, personal preferences about worship, and conflict over Christian life teaching that led to tabling the merger and renewed division. On the hypothesis that few churches sponsoring Christian schools are training members who are parents of students in these schools in evangelism, the project surveyed churches that sponsor schools and are also members of either the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) or Texas Association of Baptist Schools (TABS). This disruptive change causes people to become 'transient.'  It is ultimately up to the transient to make a decision about what needs to be done, but at times it is very difficult to know what one must do.  The pastoral counselor becomes an important person who can help clarify options.  This is a case study of a Marine who received a bad conduct discharge from the US Marine Corps after being accused of being the instigator of his own accident.  His behavior became antisocial. In addition to a premeditation of the steps to be taken during the initial year of the church there is a chronicling of the implementation of this strategy integrated with a post-evaluation.  The available resources and the role of the sponsoring churches are discussed in the early chapters. Getting to know the target audience, allowing them exposure to the developing church, and effectively communicating the gospel are subsequent key areas covered.  Securing a response to Christ that grew out of understanding, and which took into account culturally appropriate patterns of decision-making was a major concern of the church planters. Then, following Paul's approach in Acts 17:16-34, the thesis applies a similar model of worldview confrontation to the New Age movement.
