The thesis draws on the conviction that remembering will play a significant part in the grief process and will make it possible to hope.  If such is the case, then our funeral rituals must provide environments of care in which remembering within the context of the Christian story might take place. The conclusion reached is that an imaginative use of the Order of Christian Funerals does indeed offer scope for remembering. To make the rite meaningful and relevant to the culture of the Hmong the writer used the process of inculturation.  Research on the meaning and method of inculturation helped the writer to discover how to apply it in the case of the Hmong people.  The writer also researched Hmong history through extensive reading, personal interviews of Hmong leaders at Holy Family Parish and participation in their religious and social activities.
