The project explored this thesis by initiating a congregational study focusing on one parish. The research included observations, on-site visits and interviews. A literature review on Celtic spirituality, feminist theology and organizational leadership was completed. Integrative analysis was done and foundational values and components for future leadership models were proposed. Transformational leadership, spiritual renewal, and communication of vision are essential to success in implementing new models of parish leadership. A congregational study was initiated, focusing on one parish as a revealing text. The research included on-site visits and interviews. The wisdom gleaned from the congregational study was then women with a review of literature on Celtic spirituality, feminist theology and organizational leadership. An integrative analysis of the combined research was done; foundational values and components for future leadership models were proposed. The research surfaced many important findings and conclusions. Among these are: 1) they key to leadership is relationship and not skill development, structure or power; 2) in opposition to dualistic, hierarchical world-views, feminist theology and Celtic spirituality stress interconnectedness and inclusivity which are fundamental to the development of future leadership models; 3) both hierarchical and charismatic elements of the Catholic Church must be honored and balanced; 4) intentional processes are needed to enable the transition from hierarchical models of leadership to more inclusive ones, especially processes for and integrating feminist and Celtic values and; 5) the church needs to give priority to including the wealthy, poor, old and young, as well as persons of many cultures and both genders, in the community's circles of relationship and involvement. The study concludes that several steps and strategies are essential to successfully implementing new models and paradigms of leadership. In particular, transformational leadership, spiritual renewal, and processes to communicate the vision across parishes, deaneries and Archdiocesan entities, are essential for gaining commitment from the faith."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7e2d3cb-fc51-4ba5-a7fd-d43f3f8c150b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131971335749632,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:55:58.357Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:03:30Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:18:55Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"e5a3ce64-2a17-4522-ad2e-5a695cbe6853","accessControl_ssim":["111951ca-688c-40c7-bc60-152f97355f74"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Sacred fires Pacific margins: Sisters of the Good Samaritan--women in solidarity encountering internationality for mission"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:03:30Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:41:56Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ef01fb51-165d-4c7c-aa2a-758531bdcd7d"],"hasLease_ssim":["9d1ababd-7cb3-4762-aa0e-233885ab43ef"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Catholic Theological Union"],"advisor_tesim":["Anthony J Gittins"],"year_tesim":["2000"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Geraldine A Kearney"],"publisher_tesim":["Catholic Theological Union"],"subject_tesim":["Kiribati","Catholic Church","Sisters of the Good Samaritan"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis-project studies the mission and ministry of the Sisters of the Good Samaritan today, focusing on implications of our commitment to diversity and internationality, with particular reference to the formation program in Kiribati. It is offered as a response to our new 'statement of directions' promulgated in September 1999, particularly to its section on internationality and cross-culture. Voices from the fields of cultural psychology, anthropology, theology and spirituality contribute to defining and clarifying the problems and possibilities that have emerged through distillation of the data gathered in the field study and through the surveys conducted. The project outcomes invite us as Good Samaritans to walk the pathway that leads beyond cultural boundaries, ethnic divisions and religious expressions, exploring new horizons of inclusion, imagination and internationality."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Catholic Theological Union"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b51273d2-7ff5-4ecb-af24-64508c2367ad"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129643554701312,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:18:58.412Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:03:19Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:10:48Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"3af1126e-8362-4413-8fb6-4a81d6280a6d","accessControl_ssim":["2969b8f0-1a64-4712-af03-87d3c56e4fb1"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Reading the landscapes of their lives: an exploration of and resource for the spirituality of women teachers in Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:03:18Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:50:18Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ee3534e3-832f-453a-99ce-57686d83ad2c"],"hasLease_ssim":["d1f4e77e-e842-449f-b72a-7dacb12fe3cb"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Catholic Theological Union"],"advisor_tesim":["Barbara Ellen Bowe"],"year_tesim":["2000"],"location_tesim":["New Zealand"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Elizabeth Mary Julian"],"publisher_tesim":["Catholic Theological Union"],"subject_tesim":["Catholic Church","Women teachers","Catholic women"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis project employs the metaphor of reading landscapes to explore the spirituality of women who teach in Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Wellington, Aotearoa, New Zealand. Various aspects of the women's lives are read: the broader ANZ and Archdiocesan context in which they teach, the spiritual landscape and in particular the geographic landscape which they inhabit. Also explored are the ways in which these women read the Bible. The final chapter presents a plan of a resource to enable women to read the Bible and the landscape together for their spiritual enrichment.
